Good changes. I didn't expect the Threatening the Fett change, but honestly if you hadn't it would have been a 3x in every deck. And more than one in a turn could be devastating if you had to have your item.

I don't know if you would find it too powerful or not, but I think Fritz and possibly Joyce may be too powerful with the "Universal Essence."  Starting the game with eight cards to the other guys five seems a bit much.  At least Joyce won't start first to pick the Bizarro Sun Cinema all of the time, and she has crappier stats.  I just thought I would share my concerns.  Very Happy

Good thought!
I agree that card draw is very powerful in Buffy, but I think the sacrifice to maintain the card advantage is pretty large.

Scenario:
Turn one - plus one card. A very nice thing, especially on turn one when you most need to get things set up. However, it is only a one card difference.

After turn one the player has to choose to leave their main out of challenge attempts if they want the extra card. Will that choice be made? What can be drawn that will be better than a 1B, 3S, 2W, 1C (for example) body? If you need something specific like a Codex, sure, the extra card is more important, but the sacrifice to get that extra card is a balancing factor.

Comparatively I see Drusilla and Giles - both can give themselves a one card advantage every turn, both have similar stats. Dru and Giles feel much stronger to me due to traits and only cards, so I don't think we are going to see a problem.
(And of course a lucky first hand draw could make them feel unstoppable, but that can be said about most decks. )

I was also a little concerned about Pat and Jonathan and the Universal Essence (we did go through and look at every character that could use the thing), but again feel like they are weak enough as a character (Jonathan lacking traits, Pat lacking stats) that anyone who chooses to play them is going to have an uphill battle.

I do think we would say that the Universal Essence isn't legal in any format that allows multiple Essences or the swapping of Essences.

I have a Universal Essence question. If I pick The Three as my main, do I still get to use their card text? If I do does that mean that all 3 copies get the stat boost as they are all my main character?

Good one. This should absolutely be cleared up before someone plans a deck around it.

You would designate your starting character as your main, the others would be supporting characters. Only the main would receive the benefit of the Essence.
If someone does go this route they will need to have some way to mark the main (as they do in the costume format when they are running the same character as a supporting character.)

Obviously, we are branching into new things here, but I think the precedence for this was set with the text on Old Man and Geeks (both clearly define that multiple characters are considered the main) and the way we treat multiples of the same character in the costume format.
